XI.  Abuse of Liberty Delivers Spiritual Injury and Judgment (11:1–34)

A.  Freedom of expression – At what cost? (11:1–16)

Galatians 3:28 (NKJV) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

 

Genesis 24:65 (NKJV) for she had said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “It is my master.” So she took a veil and covered herself.

a. Angels observe us, but we will rule over them

1 Corinthians 4:9 (NKJV) For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

 

1 Corinthians 6:3 (NKJV) Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

 

b. Angels are examples of humility to us (Isa. 6:2)

Isaiah 6:2 (NKJV) Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

c.  None should be independent nor think themselves superior (11-12)

John 8:47–51 (NKJV)

He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Then the Jews answered and said to Him, “Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.

And I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges.

Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death.”
